ABOUT MASTER HEALTH CHECK (MHC) 
Apollo Hospitals Dhaka recognizes the importance of preventive healthcare and has created a separate clinic to help you with these needs. Our Master Health Check (MHC) clinic offers a comprehensive range of health screening packages customized to your needs for different times in your life. Each package offers a carefully selected panel of tests chosen to screen for the presence of disease or help in identifying the cause of ongoing minor ailments. You can avail these packages by your own conscious effort or as and when recommended by a physician. Health screening can also serve as an important part of a personal medical record and be useful for future reference. The hospital has the latest in diagnostic equipment and is staffed by trained nurses, technicians and a team of world-class physicians in most disciplines of medical science.
MHC clinic is located in the hospital’s atrium and its services are available from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, , seven days a week

SOME IMPORTANT FACTS
- The MHC counter is open everyday from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm. Reporting to the MHC front desk for availing MHC packages must be completed by 10:00 am.
- Reports will be delivered on the same day after 2:00 pm (only if the MHC process starts by 10:00 am)
- In case of PSA (male), Pap Smear (female), CA-125-Serum, CEA, AFP-Serum, TSH, FT3 and FT4, reports will be delivered on the following day. In case of Montoux test, Anti HCV, HBsAg, Anti HBs and Anti HBc, reports will be delivered on the third day.
- 12 lead simultaneous ECG is carried out in all health screening of Apollo MHC.
- Extended MHC Packages are applicable for patients referred by physicians or for their own interest.
PREPARATION FOR HEALTH CHECK
General Instructions:
- Please fast for 12 hours prior to your appointment and do not take any alcohol, cigarettes, tobacco or any other liquid (except plain water) during this time.
- Please inform the MHC front desk if you have any history of Diabetes, Heart Diseases, High Blood Pressure, etc.
- You are requested to take your regular medication the night before the MHC package.
- If you are on any medications, kindly bring it along with you.
- Please bring all your medical prescriptions and previous medical records with you.
- Kindly bring your morning samples of stools. Sterilized containers for samples can be collected in advance from MHC Clinic. Or, you can come directly and samples will be collected in the Sample Collection Room.
- Please wear two pieces of loose, comfortable clothing and sports shoes/sandals if possible, as you need to change clothes for X-Ray and Ultrasonography.
Special Instructions for Women:
Pregnant women or those suspecting pregnancy are advised to inform officers at the MHC front desk to not undergo any X-Ray test.
Special Instructions for TMT (Treadmill Test):
If you need to eat before TMT (Treadmill Test), then eat a light snack only. If you are suffering from any chest pain or breathing difficulty, please notify the nurse in advance.
Special Instructions for Abdominal Ultrasonography:
Drink plenty of water before Ultrasonography. The test requires a full bladder for best results. Do not void urine prior to Ultrasonography.

Apollo Screening for Smokers:
The effects of smoking on human health are destructive, serious, widespread and in many cases, deadly. There are approximately 4000 chemicals in cigarettes, hundreds of which are toxic.
Toxic ingredients in cigarette smoke travel throughout the body, causing damage in several different ways. Nicotine reaches the brain within 10 seconds after smoke is inhaled. It has been found in every part of the body and in breast milk. Carbon monoxide binds to hemoglobin in red blood cells, preventing affected cells from carrying a full load of oxygen. Cancer-causing agents (carcinogens) in tobacco smoke damage important genes that control the growth of cells, causing them to grow abnormally. These carcinogens bind to cells in the airways and major organs of smokers. Smoking affects the function of the immune system and may increase the risk for respiratory and other infections. Cigarette smoke promotes oxidative stress that increases risks of atherosclerosis, chronic lung injury and other chronic inflammations.
If smoking is stopped in time, it may prevent the damage it causes on the body. It may also reverse some of the ill-effects of smoking. Hence, this screening is recommended for people who are actively smoking, either regularly or infrequently, or passive smokers (those who do not smoke themselves but are exposed to the smoke, including house-hold members of the smokers). |
