 A joint exercise by Armed Forces Division and US Pacific Command on Disaster Management will be conducted on 17-20 September 2012. The Exercise is titled as “Disaster Management Exchange and Exercise (DREE) - 2012”. As a part of the planning of the exercise, a joint reconnaissance team visited Apollo Hospitals Dhaka’s medical facilities on 26th June 2012 2.30 pm for successful conduct of the exercise. As per the exercise plan Bashundhara Residential Area is a probable site for the said joint exercise. As a result, Apollo Hospitals Dhaka is likely to be a prominent medical support facilitator for the efficient response to urban disaster. In the visit, Armed Forces Division highly appreciated valuable support of Apollo Hospitals Dhaka for the smooth conduct of the Joint Exercise having humanitarian assistance and risk mitigation to any urban disasters as a final goal.
Lt Colonel Mohammad Tawhid-Ul-Islam, psc, EB, led the team of Bangladesh Armed Forces Division and Colonel Bill Hollingsworth, USARPAC G9 led the team of US Pacific Command. The 29 member team was participated by representatives from Bangladesh Army, 46 Independent Brigade, 2 Engineering Battalion, Bangladesh Air Force and Directorate General of Medical Services. All Senior Management of Apollo Hospitals Dhaka were present and presented the Disaster Management Preparedness of the hospital and answered the questions from the audience. |
