Prof. (Dr.) Salim Mohammad Jahangir graduated from Chittagong Medical College in 1978 and completed Fellowship in Anaesthesia in 1983. He was the first in Bangladesh to do fellowship (FCPS) in the field of Anaesthesia. In 1984, he went to UK for training in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. On his return he joined as Assistant Professor in Anaesthesia at the Dhaka Medical College & Hospital (DMCH). Since then he has been involved in teaching and has taken up independent consultancy in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine. Later from 1988 to 1989, he was again trained in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine in Sweden under the University of Gothenburg.
Dr. Jahangir served in different government medical colleges spanning over a period of 25 years in different capacities. While serving as Professor of Anaesthesia at Dhaka Medical College, he took voluntary retirement in 2003 to join as Professor of Anaesthesia (ICU) at the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU). He finally joined Apollo Hospitals Dhaka in 2006. Beyond clinical and teaching performance in Anaesthesia, he is also actively involved in research and innovation.
